The skiing in here has been just fantastic with new fluffy pow and great friends:

Next: ISPO in Munchen and then my second competition for the season in Hochfügen next weekend.

The wind has blown – a lot. The competition in Engadin is cancelled. My plans are getting changed but the skiing here was nice a usual – finding snow in between all the rocks, just the way I like it.

We live right next to a really nice concrete skate park, this time it was a bit too wet for me, but it didn’t seem to bother my sons.

Maybe I’m getting too comfortable…

During my visit I went for climbing as well, after a rather long break, since last spring. Anyway, it was really really fun and I can’t wait starting to climb more again…

Next stop Andermatt again and getting ready for the competition in Engadin.

I’ve been looking forward to this event for a long time, got there well prepared and finally, had two nice runs in which I’m happy about. Of course my result, 13th, is nothing that I’m too stoked of. But I guess that I just need more days to get used to the feeling that you can ski faster land more front weight on alpine gear.

My qualification run was a rather easy warmup with some exposed turns in the middle section that ended up on an easy cliff. The run was really long and that way the judges could easily see who can actually ski, and who not. ..I guess that I need some more alpine turns to feel more comfortable on icy open fields..

On the finals I went for an exposed start, again, but my line was a bit too tricky so I couldn’t take it as I was planning to. Instead of a nice line there, I had to take an easier one and just a small stone instead of a nice cliff. Otherwise I’m really happy of my finals run, I got lots of nice small airs, had fun skiing and didn’t crash… Just one dramatic backslab on one medium cliff in the second part of my run… Don’t really know why, maybe I was too tired, or then I am just too used to land on my back on telemark gear.. Next time new try.

I’m quite happy now to realize how I ski and how the others do, where I can do better and so on… I know that I need more skiing days on alpine gear, some more trust on standing upright. I am super exited of this and sure that I made the right decision to try alpine for a while!

I am really really happy that my good pal, Wille, took what he deserved today!

Our friend Rasmus showed some really strong and beautiful skiing in La Clusaz. But the luck weren’t at his side: he had a big crash on a flat part in the end of his final run, just a stupid fall with no reason. He still made it 9th in the results, which means that on a good day he can easily make it to the podium..

Wille taking a look of the finals face. Sometimes it feels almost ridiculous to check your cliffs from such a distance.. But that’s something you can get better the more you do it.

This was the first time my feet got a bit cold.. I’m still surprised of how these things can be so comfortable and of how nice it’s to go parallel turns!

It has been snowing a lot.

My good mate and our new guy for the Four Elements team, Alexander Björk, is taking the lead.

It looks like we are getting some more white gold!!!

And and, some hand rails and jibbing is a nice way to start…

My big plan is to go for alpine skiing 100% this season.

Why..?  I want to compete – and to win =)

After some tries to stand on a pair of alpine boots, I finally realized that it is actually a lot easier to ski fast and to have the control, especially when competing in freeriding.. And, it’s super fun!

The guys at Alpingaraget in Stockholm has done a great job for me to help with perfect skiing boots..

I must say that I am super lucky that I found a great trainer and Gym, S.T.A.R., in Piteå, when we moced here two years ago. Now I start to see some really big progress and I have found a good way to train.

In a nutshell: I have a program that we change every fifth week. Start during the summer, get a good basic aerobic condition, go with some heavy gym passes and toward the season, go for more explosive training and training that helps to stand out the high lactic acid levels in your blood…

I must say that I have become an addicted trainer..

I think it’s a good season for a Finn.

It’s a period of going quiet, being with the family, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, find the nice lobsters. The cities are cozy, the life is at its core…
