Back home in Andermatt after Nendaz.

I came home and heard that our pisteur friend had opened the top of Gemsstock the day before with some 80cm of new snow!

Too bad I still have some sore legs after my crash at the finals in Nendaz, but I still could go up and enjoy the sun. And to see friends ski the powder, is sometimes even nicer than to ski it by yourself..

This year, again, we were quite lucky with the weather and had the race with sun and good snow. On the qualifier day I had a small crash on the first run, but made a nice second run and made it just for the finals.

On the finals though, I somehow managed to take a wrong cliff which I noticed in the air, saw that it was quite rocky down there. I really haven’t done that kind of a mistake before, but now I have and have to say that I was quite lucky not hurt myself big time. Just some sore legs.

Anyway, the week-end was really nice and especially good for my friend Wille who, with coming on the third place, secured his place for the FWT for the next season. Congratulations!

For me, Andermatt, snow, Stockholm and the Röldal with some new energy.

I just came home to Andermatt from my fourth competition for the season, The First Track Freeride in Chandolin, St Luc.

This time we had a different setup for the competition. The competitions face was the same for two days and everybody had one run a day and the both scores counted for the total points. The venue was really inspiring and one could choose everything from nice and fast freeride lines to more extreme lines.

The snow was great and the level of skiing was really high, which was nice to see.

For me the competition didn’t go right as planned. On day one I had a nice line, ending up 6th, but on the day two I managed to find some sun affected and crusty snow that I could’t ski the way I wanted to, ending up just skiing down without having too much fun.. Anyway, my total scores were enough for 8th place and that was of course a nice thing.

Next weekend Nendaz, looking forward to that!

Matilda Rapaport scored the best points, again!

Everything was just perfect: my body felt grate, I had the great feeling of standing on skiis, I felt happy, relaxed and enjoyed the day. But but, I chose a too difficult line for me in the qualifications and ended up crashing almost all the way down. Of course I’m super disappointed, but at the same time I can be glad that I didn’t hurt myself and as always, I try to take this with me, learn and do better next time.

For Wille it went fine, he was fourth and got some important points for getting to the FWT..

Our happy French friend was glad to take home the victory. Lots of guys crashed on the finals, but Mathieu Bijasson’s nice skiing and sweet backflip was sugar for the judges and got the first place. Big hands for him!

Next competition for me will be in St Luc/Switzerland in two weeks.

Now heading back down to Barcelona!

The contest was great, good organized, good weather (quite cold though, -28c at the start gate), good snow and nice face to ski. I feel that I finally have found “my style” of alpine skiing and had a really nice run with good fluidity, nice cliffs and some exposed turns.

The winner this year in Hochfügen was maybe the happiest winner that I’ve ever seen in freeride competitions, Dani Fornell from Andorra. He had a super fluid line with big cliffs and nice stomps. At the prize giving he couldn’t really stay in his pants and delivered a great show for all of us who were there.

I’m as well happy for a friend of mine, Matilda Rapaport, who made it up to the podium ending up on third place. She had really nice line, good skiing and after her run you could see that she had fun time skiing. Big hands for her!

Now I will stay home in Stockholm for a while healing my sore feet from the hard racing boots… Then again towards the Alps and my third competition, in Andorra or in Switzerland.

Next: ISPO in Munchen and then my second competition for the season in Hochfügen next weekend.

The wind has blown – a lot. The competition in Engadin is cancelled. My plans are getting changed but the skiing here was nice a usual – finding snow in between all the rocks, just the way I like it.

We live right next to a really nice concrete skate park, this time it was a bit too wet for me, but it didn’t seem to bother my sons.

Maybe I’m getting too comfortable…

During my visit I went for climbing as well, after a rather long break, since last spring. Anyway, it was really really fun and I can’t wait starting to climb more again…

Next stop Andermatt again and getting ready for the competition in Engadin.
